Episode 10: Marlene Chism – No Drama Leadership

In It's All About The Questions by Laura

Drama Queen. Hmm, wonder why we don’t have a phrase, Drama King? We’ve all heard the term. What everyone doesn’t want to talk about is how that person of drama impacts the workplace and the homeplace. Maybe that person is you or someone you know. Either way, recognizing how to defuse the drama can make a difference for everyone.

My guest today is a successful entrepreneur who, having moved up from factory worker to in-demand management consultant and speaker around the world has unique insights on stopping drama in its tracks. Her award winning book, Stop Workplace Drama is one of my favorites. So much so I quote her in my own book, What Would a Wise Woman Do?

Her latest book, No Drama Leadership is a must read for anyone serious about leadership. Marlene shared tips everyone can use to stop drama in your business and your life and how becoming a No Drama Leader is the highest aspiration a leader can bring to the table.

Marlene Chism is a consultant, international speaker and author of Stop Workplace Drama (Wiley 2011), and No-Drama Leadership (Bibliomotion 2015). Marlene’s passion is developing wise leaders and helping people to discover, develop and deliver their gifts to the world.  From her unique experience of reinvention to her experience working with all levels within an organization Marlene has learned to speak three languages: The language of the owner, the language of the manager, and the language of the employee. Marlene takes the position that communication is not a “soft skill” but is instead a critical skill necessary for No-Drama Leadership. Marlene has a Communications degree from Drury University, and a master’s degree in Human Resources Development from Webster University.
